Prothrombin Time PT means that the blood is taking too long The prothrombin time sometimes referred to as PT ON pro time test is a test to evaluate blood clotting. It is a protein produced by your liver. It is one of many factors in your blood that help it to clot appropriately.

Take 100 μL of plasma in a glass test tube. Place in a water bath or incubator for 5 minutes. After 5 min Add 200 μl of PT reagent (Tissue thromboplastin) Pre-warmed at 37°C for at least 3 minutes. Start the stopwatch and shake the tube gently to mix the content. By tilting the tube note clotting time.

Normal Range:

Normal range of 11 to 16 Seconds PT, INR (International normalized ratio). An INR is A type of calculation based on PT test results.

Normal Range of INR: 0.8 to 12
